Lindores Abbey Launches Nectere as The Glenturret Unveils Deux Terrains and Laphroaig Revives Its 15 Year Old.

Fife-based Lindores Abbey Distillery launched Nectere, a new single malt matured in four Sherry cask types: oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, amontillado and Palo Cortado. Named after the Latin word conectere, meaning ‘to connect’, the whisky pays tribute to the monks who first distilled at Lindores Abbey in 1494 and is made with barley grown on land once farmed by the Abbey’s monks. The Glenturret, Scotland’s oldest working distillery, unveiled Deux Terrains, a 21 Year Old single malt finished in Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey Sauternes casks. Matured in sherry-seasoned oak before its Sauternes cask finish, the limited release of just 500 bottles takes its name from the French for ‘Two Lands’, celebrating the connection between the Scottish Highlands and the vineyards of Bordeaux. Laphroaig has reintroduced its 15 Year Old single malt as a permanent addition to its core range. Returning after more than a decade, the expression joins the distillery’s 10 and 18 Year Old whiskies and is matured for 15 years in American oak ex-Bourbon casks. Read more
